Our family is from the Montérégie region. A region of Quebec (a Canadian province) where agriculture plays a central role in the economy. Mr. Marcel Durand, the company's co-founder, was in fact raised on a family farm.

Later becoming an electrician, it was only natural that he oriented his practice towards the agricultural sector, a path he followed until 1995.

1995, the beginnings

It was then that Mr. Durand decided to acquire what was still just an temperature controller project. From this adventure, AGRITRON was born. Our products under this brand were installed all across all Quebec and in a few Ontario farms (the neighboring province).

Renowned for the quality of their design and assembly, AGRITRON branded products have equipped (and often still equip!) some 5,000 livestock buildings.

2008, the repositioning

2008 marked the beginning of another adventure: the ECONOFAN brand fans. These stood out due to their unmatched energy efficiency. Unfortunately, the market was not ready for this type of innovation. The company then repositioned itself towards the manufacturing of ambient and lighting controllers in B2B mode, and today, nearly 10,000 lighting controllers have been sold in over 20 countries worldwide.

2020, back to basics

During the upheavals of 2020, Mr. Mathieu Durand, the co-founder's son, undertook a return to the company's roots. He chose to relaunch "direct" activity with users because he felt the company was losing contact with the real needs of those using its products. This led to the birth of FLEX brand products, a range of ambient controllers intended for small and medium-sized livestock buildings.

2022, the sheeps

​

Through the marketing efforts for FLEX products, Mr. Mathieu Durand realized that the sheep production sector could greatly benefit from his products. Beyond just ambient management, Mr. Durand realized that several electronic tools were missing in this production area. Accompanied by reference breeders, he therefore began the development of data collection tools (ear tag reading stick, sorting scale) designed to facilitate work in the sheepfold.

Today

Today, Mr. Marcel Durand has retired from the company's day-to-day operations but still sits on the board of directors. His son is taking over, accompanied by the same technical director since 2009.

​

The company still manufactures nearly a thousand lighting controllers per year but is also positioning itself as a leading player in the sheep production landscape in Quebec.

But above all, our expertise still and always materializes in very high-quality products that stand out for their durability and simplicity of use.
